フリーモントと言えば、この人もいるよー旧ソ連の革命家と政治家のウラジミール・レーニン！
So what is a statue of a Russian revolutionary doing in Seattle? That's an interesting story in itself. Just a short spiel. A man named Lewis Carpenter from Issaquah was an English teacher in Poprad, Slovakia. He spotted the statue in a scrapyard. He thought it was a shame and that it had some historical significance. He purchased the statue and was planning to stand it in front of a Slavic restaurant in Issaquah to attract customers. The residents voted against that but the statue found a home in Fremont. If you're curious about the statue, you could look up more information on the Internet.
なぜシアトルに革命家のレーニン像があるんだ？それも結構面白い話になる。ワシントン州出身の男性のルイス・カーペンターがスロヴァキアの街ポプラトで英語の講師をやってた。ある日、街のスラップヤードでこの像を発見した。歴史もありと感じ、国からこの像を購入し、ワシントン州に送った。最初は自分が住んでる街のイサクアにスロヴァックレストランの前に設置する予定だった。でも街の住民がそれに反対して、現在はこのフリーモントという場所に立てます。もっと詳しい話が気になるなら、ネットでシアトルレーニン像で検索すれば良いのだ。

Another Fremont landmark is the sculpture titled [Waiting for the Interurban].
フリーモントにもう一つ有名なものがある。この彫刻のタイトルは「ウェイティング・フォア・ザ・インターアーバン」。
A new landmark in Fremont. This wasn't here the last time I visited home. It's a statue of a popular local children's show, "The J.P. Patches Show". J.P. Patches is the clown on the right. To the left of him is Gertrude.
新しいものが出来た。前に里帰りしたときこれはなかったと思う。この彫刻は昔シアトルの超人気子供番組の”J.P.パッチェズ・ショー”のメインのキャラクター二人。右にいるのはJ.P.パッチェズ。左はJ.P.パッチェズの友達のガートルード。
