アメリカ滞在四日目。今日の予定はシアトル観光。最初の目的地はファーストフードでクラムチャウダーが有名の「アイヴァーズ」。その店で友達と会う約束もしてる。
But first, breakfast at home. This cracks me up but as I'm a big fan of hummus and had my mother buy me some when she took us to the Misawa Air Base earlier in the year, she herself has become hooked on it and buys it regularly now!
でも出掛ける前はうちで朝食をとる。自分は大のフムス好きで、母が３月に青森に来たとき、三沢基地のスーパーで買ってもらった。母がそれを食べたら結構ハマったみたいで、アメリカに帰ってひんぱんに買って食べてるみたい。今日の朝食もちゃんとフムスがテーブルの上にある。

Another reason for coming here. To meet up with my friends.
ここに来るもう一つの理由は友達と会うことです。
Talking to my friend Janet who worked for Tower Books before me in Seattle before moving on to the Elliot Bay Book Company.
友達のジャネットです。彼女は僕より前にタワーブックスに働いて知り合った。僕はまだ別の店舗に働いたが、シアトル店に異動したとき、彼女はタワーを辞めて、別の本屋に移った。

But we were having a great conversation.

After lunch, we walked up the Harbor Steps and headed for Pike Place Market.
ランチを食べ終わってから、ハーバー・ステップスを上って、パイク・プレイス・マーケットを目指した。
We walked passed the Seattle Art Museum.
シアトルアート美術館の前を通った。
Also walked passed the Showbox. I once saw Humble Pie play there.
ショーボックスのいうライブハウスの前も通った。昔ハンブル・パイというバンドのライブはそこで見た。
When in Seattle, a must visit site!
シアトルに行くなら、必ずここも行くべしの場所、パイク・プレイス・マーケット。

We stopped in here and bought lots of different kinds of smoked salmon for our friends back in Japan.
この店は燻製したサーモンの専門店。いろんな燻製したサーモンを日本の友達のためにお土産を買った。
I'm not a coffee drinker but this is the first Starbuck's coffee shop.
自分はコーヒー飲みませんが、この店はスターバックスの一号店。
There was a long line of people who wanted to get their Starbuck's fix.
観光客でも人気のスターバックス一号店はやっぱり今日も行列があった。
Ooh, a handmade cheese shop. Of course we had to check it out.
手作りチーズの専門店「ビーチャーズ」。もちろん覗いてみた。

Inside the cheese shop. Although we just finished lunch, I couldn't pass up on trying their grilled-cheese sandwich.

It looks like my sister has her name misspelled as often as mine.

We stopped at a chocolate shop somewhere along the line.
どっかでチョコの専門店も入った。

We then headed for a place that I think you would only find in Seattle - the Gum Wall. It's quite disgusting and smells bad too.
つぎに向かったのはシアトルの独特な観光名所。それが”ザ・ガム・ウォール”。見た目もグロイし、匂いがきつい。
Yes, that is all gum stuck on the wall!
はい、壁の全てがガムです。
After such a terrible smell, time to eat some gelato.
きつい匂いを嗅いだあとはやっぱり美味しいジェラトを食べるべきだ。
I don't remember what flavored I had.
なんの味を選んだのか覚えてない。

We spotted a Daiso in the International District but it was very small.

Summertime in Seattle means it doesn't get dark until late. So after dinner, we went for a little drive.
夏のシアトル、暗くなるのは結構遅い時間なので、夕飯後ドライブに出かけた。
We went to a place called Sunnyside Beach in Steilacoom.
スティラクームにあるサニーサイドビーチに行きました。
I think this is Saltar's Point, my sister's school she went to for the fourth and fifth grade.
ソルターズ・ポイント小学校と思う。妹が小学校３年と４年生のときに通った学校。
We popped in on my sister and her husband on our way back from Sunnyside Beach.
両親の家に戻るまえに妹夫妻の家に寄り道した。
And so ended our Seattle adventure.
そしてシアトル観光の幕が閉じた。
Tomorrow we are planning another excursion to Seattle to hit some of the sites I haven't been do and have wanting to go to for a long time. My friend Matt said he would probably be sick and can't make it into work so we had no choice but to go pick him up and have him join us. Until next time!
明日の予定はまたシアトル観光。まだ行ったことないところと昔から行きたい場所も行く予定。ランチで一緒に食べた友達のマットが、明日体調不良になるので、仕事を休むなきゃと言い、彼を迎えに行って同行するしかないと話した。では、またこんど！
