Asamushi Onsen Tamago and Foot Bath / 浅虫温泉たまご場と足湯

In years past, in Aomori, after the Nebuta Festival ended, most Aomori residents would say summer is over and the cold season would begin. Even our first year of living in Aomori, the last day of the Nebuta Festival (2017) was very windy and cold. However, this summer the weather has been almost extremely hot. The cold weather is nowhere in sight and even today (August 22), the temperatures are up in the 30's (Celcius), which means mid to high 80's F. To make myself feel cooler, I thought I would write about our visit to the "other" foot bath in Asamushi which is located near a place where you can also make your own onsen tamago.

靑森市に引っ越すまえに、ねぶた祭りが終わったら住民が夏が終わったと感じた。天気もすぐ涼しくなるし、もう秋って感じ。私たちも東京から靑森に引っ越して、２０１７年でねぶた祭りの最終日に花火を見に行ったが、その日はとっても寒いし、風が強うかった。でも年々、ねぶた祭りが終了しても暑い日が続く。今年真夏日は１７日連続続いた！！記録更新だったそうです。涼しくなるようなネタを書こうと思い、冬で浅虫にあんまり知られてないほうな足湯と温泉たまご場を紹介しようと想う。

Looks like there were already a bunch of people making their own hot spring eggs (onsen tamago).

We then went to the Asamushi Roadside Station [Yu-sa Asamushi] and enjoyed the view from the bath located on the fifth floor. 

帰る前に道の駅「ゆ～さ 浅虫」に行って、５回にあるお風呂に入り、そとを眺めた。

A drink I like to have after a bath - milk coffee (or coffee milk). This actually says coffee but it's cold and pretty sweet. 

お風呂上がりで僕がいつも飲む様なものです。

We also stopped at the Shake shop on our way back as well and so ended our short adventure. 

みちのくシェイクショップも行って、シェイクを買って、そのまま家に帰りました。そして今日の冒険が終了した。

Akita Prefecture Day Trip : Lunch at the Kazuno Roadside Station and Nanataki Waterfall / 秋田県日帰り旅行：道の駅かずの あんとらあでランチと七滝

After checking out the Historic Site Osarizawa Mine, our next order of business was to have lunch. As we were not too far from Kazuno City, we decided to go to the Road Side Station [Antler]. We decided to eat at a restaurant called [Mitachi]. 

尾去沢鉱山を堪能したあと、次やることはどっかでランチを食べるべき。鹿角市が近いから、道の駅かずの「あんとらあ」に行きました。そこにあるレストラン・ダイニング「MITACHI」に行きました。

My mother-in-law who says she's not very particular to poultry ordered the Hinai-dori Oyakodon (rice bowl with chicken and onions). And she said it was very delicious!

鶏肉が苦手と言う義理の母が注文したのは比内地鶏の親子丼。それにしても全部食べちゃって、美味しいと言ってました。

My wife and I ordered the same dish. Hachiman Pork Chashu-men. 

僕と妻が同じものを注文した。それが八幡平ポーク醤油ラーメン。

We also ordered dessert. This is a Basque-style cheesecake with raspberry sauce. 

デザートも食べました。バスク風チーズケーキのラズベリーソース。

And we all had a hot cup of coffee with our dessert. 

デザートと共にホットコーヒーを飲みました。

We've been to this Roadside Station before so we already knew there was a building housing miniatures stages for the Hanawabayashi Festival. The regular cost is 500yen for adults but it was almost closing time so I snuck in for free. 

以前も鹿角市の道の駅に来たことがあって、「花輪ばやし」展示館があるのを知ってた。一般の大人一人の入場料員は５００円ですが、もうそろそろ閉店だったので、ただで入ってました。

As we were headed back home, we saw a sign for another Roadside Station and decided to make a short stop there as well. 

帰り道に別の道の駅があると知り、そこにも寄って行った。

The next Roadside Station we went to was Kosaka Nanataki. 

次行った道の駅は「こさか七滝」。

Nanataki means "Seven Waterfalls" in English and across from the Roadside Station there is a waterfall called Nanataki. My mother-in-law told us that she came here a long time ago with her husband. 

七滝は英語で”七つの滝”という意味だ。道の駅の向かいにそういう滝がありました。義理の母も昔自分の旦那と一緒に来たことがあると話してた。

I spotted a little shed with a waterwheel near the falls.

We made one more stop back in Kosaka.

小坂町でもう一ヶ所に寄ってみた。

On our drive home, we spotted these statues so I had to check it out. 

靑森市に帰る前に小坂町でこの像を見て気になってた。

This building caught my interest too.

We always have to have an ice cream break on our drives. 

ドライブの時は必ずどこかでソフトを食べる。

The front of that long building I saw earlier. It's called the [Korakukan]. There were a lot of students who I think were on their school trip.

気になってた建造物は「康楽館」という。へ～。行ったときに修学旅行中の学生が沢山居た。

I really wanted to check out the above building as well but we were pressed for time.

学生たちがいなくなったので、康楽館にもう１枚。

The place I really wanted to visit in Kosaka was close to the Korakan. We missed out on going to the Kosaka Rail Park. However, I'm sure we will be coming back to this place soon. I want to check out the other places at my leisure as well. But it was a great day trip all the same. 

小坂町で一番行きたかった所が小坂鉱山事務所と康楽館のすぐ近くにあった。それが小坂レールパーク。いつかここに戻ってくる。レールパークも行きたいし、他の建物をもっとゆっくり探索したいなと想う。でも超楽しい１日でした。
