Road trip to Senjojiki, Lake Juniko, and the Furofushi Hot Spring (Part 4) /

We were headed home from Furofushi Hot Spring, but as we passed through Fukaura again, a large temple caught our eye so we had to investigate. It was the Engakuji Temple.

This was interesting. There is a small museum located close to the temple called the "Kazemachi Kan". We only saw this replica of a ship as the museum was located in another building. It will be something for us to do next summer.

The first gate you must go through before reaching the main temple.

The main temple / 本堂

The Smiling Kannon /

Warabe Jizo /

All six of them make up the Six Jizos.

Hondo / 本堂

Monument to Kobo Daishi /

Engakuji Temple Seal /

We made one more stop before heading home. This is the Kasose Roadside Station. Also known as the "Grilled Squid Village".

The following pictures are views of the Sea of Japan.

We managed to see the sunset somewhere along the road on our way home and so ended our day trip.
