Before exploring the Sanmaru Museum, our guide treated us to some ice cream. Don got to try yet another flavor. This time, he had a chestnut flavored ice cream.

The museum is set up in a way that you see this boy grow into adulthood while also providing information on how the people lived during the Jomon period.
ミュージアムのつくり方として、この少年の成長が見れる様な感じです。縄文時代の生活も解説があり。

The boy's mother and little sister are growing a chestnut tree. Chestnuts were an important food item for the Jomon people. It was also an important material for building houses.
少年のお母さんと妹がクリを育ってるんだって。縄文時代ならクリはとても大切な食べ物だし、家の材料にもなるんだ。
The boy used a stone axe to cut down trees.
少年は石のオノで木を切る。
The boy's mother was a master earthenware maker.
少年のお母さんは土器づくりの名人だった。
Dad was making a wooden plate for a festival. With a bit of red in the mixture, he is applying lacquer to the plate.

One of the neighborhood ladies is sad that a relative died and is standing by his grave.
近所のおじいちゃんが亡くなって、寂しそうにお墓のところに居ます。
The boy grew up and was leaving the village to go out on his own.
少年が成長し、村から離れ、自分の未来に向かって旅立つ。
Don decided to leave with him!
