木曜日、８月２日。僕とドンがまた二人で青森を探索することに。僕の妻は今日も仕事です。妻が私たちが行く場所まで送って貰った。本日のメインは山内丸山遺跡。現在、日本が北海道と東北の縄文サイトをユネスコ世界遺産の登録を申請してる最中。今山内丸山い遺跡の入場は無料。世界遺産に登録されたら、金取ることになるかも知りませんね。９時会館で私たちは９時前に到着。僕の知り合いがここでボランティア活動してるため、今日私たちをガイドしてくれる。彼女もちょっと英語が出来るので、楽しみに行きました。
Our guide today is Fumiko. She is holding a Jomon pot that's about four to five thousand years old!
本日のガイドのフミコさん。彼女が持ってるのは縄文式土器。それがなんと４か５千年前のものです！
As a long time volunteer guide at the site, she was able to let us hold real Jomon earthenwares. Don is holding one that's about 3,000 years old. The one I'm holding is about 4,000 years old. We were nervous holding such items. Not something sites like this allow I imagine.
彼女が長年も三内丸山のガイドしてるため、彼女のこねで私たちが本物の縄文式土器を持たせてくれた。ドンが持ってるもの３前年前のもの。僕が持ってるのは４千年前のもの。この貴重品を持つのも凄い緊張した。

Thanks to the English language brochure, I can let you know what this is. This is the South Mound.
[A large amount of potsherds and stone implements, clay figurines, jade beads, etc. were disposed together with the soil and formed a mound for over 1000 years. You can see its cross-section here.

It's quite roomy. Unfortunately, there is no room service.

Pit Dwelling: [The floor was dug below the ground level. A hearth was located in its center. At least 550 pit-dwellings have been discovered so far and 15 have been reconstructed.]
竪穴建物（復元）：「床は地面を掘り込んでつくりました。中央には炉があります。これまでに５５０棟以上見つかりました。１５棟を復元しています。」

[These types of buildings can be identified by postholes dug below the ground. They are found clustered in the center of the site. We reconstructed them to be raised floor buildings.]
「地面に穴を堀り。柱を立てた建物跡です。遺跡中央部分でまとまって見つかりました。高床式の建物と考え、復元しました。」
We got to check out a current excavation site today.

This is a reconstruction of a large pillar supported building and is also used as a symbol for the Sannai-Maruyama Site.
これは復元された大型堀立柱建物。三内丸山のシンボルでも使われてる。

[We reconstructed this remain as a 6-pillared rectangular building. The six postholes which measure about 2 meters both in diameter and depth were placed at 4.2 meters apart. They are larger than of the other buildings. Remains of chestnut posts measuring about 1 meter in diameter were preserved in the postholes.]
「６本柱の長方形の建物と考えられます。柱穴は直径・深さとも約２ｍで、他の建物跡と比べて規模が大きく、穴の間隅はすべて４．２ｍでした。中に直径約１ｍのクリの柱が残っていました。」
