さて、令和初日、僕は何をしましたか？最初はひろやのラーメン屋でランチ。今日の予定は廣田神社に行き、令和初日の御朱印を貰いに行く。ランチを済ましたら、廣田神社行く前に途中で青い森公演を探索した。
I stopped by this restaurant that had an interesting window display. These packages look like some Showa era instant noodles.
歩き回ったら、あるレストランのウィンドウディスプレイが気になってた。見たことないラーメンが飾ってあった。パッケージにちゃんと”家庭用ラーメン”と書いてある。
I like walking around town and discovering different monuments. This was a monument commemorating the starting point of the East Japan Longitudinal Ekiden, a race that began in 1951 and extended from Aomori City to Tokyo, Japan. It was a race to commemorate the signing of the San Francisco Peace Treaty.
僕は街歩きは大好き。いろんな碑があって、どういうものの碑を調べるのが楽しい。これは東日本横断駅伝競走大会のスタート地の碑です。この大会は１９５１年（昭和２６）に開催、サンフランシスコ講和条約（日本国との平和条約）を記念したレースです。
Okay, this doesn't have anything written on it so what is it?
うん？これはなにも書いてないけどなんでしょうか？
Oh, I see. This is a National Highway Monument. It marks the end of the National Route No.4 which starts at Nihonbashi in Tokyo and is also the ending point of National Route No.7 which starts in Niigata.
あっ、なるほど。先程の碑は「国道の碑」と「道路標石」だった。書いてあるのは”東京日本橋を起点とする国道四号と新潟市を起点とする国道七号は、ここ青森市長島の地を終点としています。

青い森公園の中を探索。
I spotted a weeping cherry blossom in Aoimori Park.
園内にしだれ桜がありました。
This is a sculpture by an Aomori artist named Masaharu Suzuki and is titled [Omoide no Zo] which translates to [Statue of Memory]. There's an inscription in the back that says "Shinmachi Shogakko Koko ni Aruki" which translates to "Shinmachi Elementary School : I walked here".
これは青森出身の彫刻家鈴木正治の作品。作品名は「思い出の像」。像の裏に”新町小学校 ここにあるき”。

This is an azimuth meter and also a sundial.
方位盤と日時計。したに書かれてるのは”県の鳥である白鳥の飛来から飛び立ちまでを表現した盤に東西南北の四つの方角を示しています。又、日時計も兼ね備えています。”

After exploring all there was to explore at Aoimori Park, I continued walking to Hirota Shrine. I wanted to get my first goshuin of the Reiwa Era. I was surprised at how crowded the shrine was. It wasn't just me who wanted to get a Reiwa Gannen shrine seal. I had to take a number and wait. So, while waiting, I walked around the shrine grounds.
青い森公園の探索を終了したあと、目的の廣田神社に行きました。もちろん僕の目当ては令和初日の御朱印。思ったより込んでました。令和元年の御朱印を求めに来た人が大勢いた。ちょっと時間がかかると言われ、境内を歩き回った。

The weather wasn't that great today either, so the cherry blossoms don't look as grand as they could be. This is called the Sanekatazakura, a sacred tree that brings happiness.
今日の天気もそんなに良くなかったため、桜の木は凄い綺麗に写ってないと思う。これが実方桜で”幸せを呼ぶ御神木”と言われてます。

I finally got my shrine seal. On the left is written today's date with the new era - Reiwa Gannen, May 1st. This the seal with the outline of Aomori Prefecture.
やっと御朱印が出来た。日付をみると令和元年になってます！これは廣田神社が提供してる青森県御朱印。
I also picked up a seal commemorating the beginning of the Reiwa Era.
令和を祝う御朱印も貰いました。
Earlier, I had passed by an arthouse movie theater called Cinemadict that I had been wanting to go to. A movie that interested me was currently playing and as my wife had to work until 6pm, I decided to see a movie here. I went and saw a UK film titled [The Bookshop]. As a longtime bookseller, movies that have a book or book shop theme are always of interest to me.
ラーメン屋に行く前に気になる映画館「シネマディクト」を通った。いつかこの小さな映画館で映画見たいなと思った。丁度見たい映画も上映中だったし、妻は６時まで仕事だったし、２時から上映する映画「マイ・ブックショップ」を見に行きました。長年本屋に勤めた僕は本屋が舞台になるものは見逃せませんよ。本関連の映画は大好き。

I still had time to wander around town before going home before my wife gets back from work so I went to Utou Shrine.
映画見終わったら妻がバイトから家に戻る前にまだ時間があって、善知鳥神社に行きました。
You can spot these Jomon era replicas of a dogu here and there.

Today, I came in from the rear entrance to the shrine. This is the main building of Utou Shrine.
本日は裏側から入ってきて、ここれが善知鳥神社の本堂。
Also celebrating the start of a new era.
こちらも令和を祝ってます。
This is the bird the shrine is named after. It is called an Utou in Japanese. In English it's apparently called a rhinocerus auklet.
善知鳥神社に由来する鳥、善知鳥。
Even though I already have shrine seal from Utou Shrine, I decided to get another that shows that I came here on the first day of the Reiwa Era.
善知鳥神社の御朱印はもう持ってるけど、せっかく令和元年の初日なので、新しい御朱印をいただきました。
It isn't just temples and shrines celebrating the new era. Even simple snacks have Reiwa commemorative packaging.
神社とお寺たけが令和を祝ってるだけじゃない。いろんお菓子やスナックのパッケージも令和記念パッケージを作ってる。
Afterward, I went home to get there before my wife came back from work.
その後、妻がバイトから帰る前にうちに戻った。
