ドンの八日目の青森旅は街の中心の歩き旅でした。私たちが廣田神社、蓮華寺と常光寺に行きまして、今は港を目指して、青森に来てる豪華客船を見に行くことにした。
The ship currently in port is the Pacific Venus.

The triangular building in the background is called ASPAM where regional goods from Aomori Prefecture are sold.
三角形のビルはアスパム。青森県物産センターの場所です。
One of these days I would like to take a cruise on a ship like this.

We decided to walk out as far as the lighthouse.
灯台まで歩きました。
There are life preservers set at certain points in case someone decides to take a dip in the ocean and has trouble staying afloat.

The Aomori Bay Bridge and the Memorial Ship [Hakkoda Maru] off to the right. My mother-in-law works on that ship.

Don said he had ridden the small steam boat that we see passing by. It only runs during the summer.
ドンがその小さなん蒸気船を一人で乗りました。蒸気船はねぶたの期間中にしか出港致しません。

There was a little festival being held next the Warasse Building and I had to buy me an apple-filled spring roll. These are so good!
今日もねぶたハウス「ワ・ラッセ」の隣になんかのイベントが開催され、この移動トラックの春巻きりんごを買った。とっても美味しいよ！

My mother-in-law gave us free tickets to see the current exhibition at the Aomori Museum of Art so we caught the shuttle bus that would take us there. It only costs 100yen.
義理の母が私たちに現在青森県立美術館で開催されてる美術展、「めがねと旅する美術展」のタダ券を貰って、ねぶたん号に乗って、いざ青森県立美術館へ！
A poster of the current exhibition. The Japanese title is "Megane to Tabi suru Bijutsu Ten". This would roughly translate to "Travels with Glasses Exhibition". Most of the art pieces are in a visual medium - film, animation, optical illusions, virtual reality, etc. Unfortunately, pictures were not allowed at the exhibition. However, we could take pictures of some art work displayed in one area. Very large pieces done for a theater by Marc Chagall.
「めがねと旅する美術展」の写真撮影は禁止されてる為ですが、美術館の中で写真が許されてる場所もありました。そこに展示されてるものはマルク・シャガールの絵です。
This piece is called [Aleko and Zemphira by Moonlight]. The backdrops were made at the request of a New York ballet company, the Ballet Theatre while Chagall was in the United States fleeing Nazi persecution. This was used for the balled "Aleko" for Act 1.
これが「月光のアレコとゼンフィラ」。バレエ「アレコ」の背景画は、ナチス・ドイツの迫害から逃れるため、アメリカへ亡命したシャガールがニューヨークのバレイ団「バレエ・シアター」から依頼を受けて制作したものである。

Aomori Prefecture also has it's famous artist, Yoshitomo Nara. One of his most popular works displayed at the Aomori Museum of Art is the "Aomori-ken" or "Aomori Dog". In Japanese, it's a play on words as "ken" is the word for Prefecture and is also the term used for dog "breeds". You can actually see the Aomori Dog for free.
青森県出身の有名のアーティストがいる。その人は奈良美智。青森県立美術館に青森を代表する作品も展示されてます。それが、巨大な”青森犬”。あおもり犬誰でも見れる作品です。

The museum closes at 6pm and we were there until a little after the closing time. When we headed to the bus stop, we discovered that the last shuttle bus leaves from the museum at 5:58pm!! Oh no! There were no taxis in sight so I told Don, well, my wife and I had walked from here back home before so we can do it too. But we had been walking most of the day. Still, we headed back to my house. But because it was after six, I decided to call my wife who gets off from work at that time. I asked her to come pick us up at the Sannai Cemetery. We decided not to walk all the way back to the house.
美術館の閉店時間が夜６時。私たちもそのあともちょっといたため、バス停に行ったら、最終バスは５時５８分でした！さ～、私たちはどうすれば良いか。ドンに以前僕と妻がここから歩いて帰ったこともあったから問題ないようと言った。でも私たちは昼からずーと歩きっぱんし。６時過ぎたから妻が仕事を終わってるはず。妻に電話して、とりあえず、三内霊園まで向かいに来てくれと頼みました。やっぱり、美術館から家まで歩くのがちょっとでも避けたかった。

The cemetery is starting to look a little ominous as evening approaches.
段々暗くなって、霊園の雰囲気がちょっと不気味になってる。
We left the cemetery and decided to go out to eat. Don said he would love to go to the ramen shop that served the spicy negi (onion) ramen so that is exactly what we did.
霊園を去って、丁度夕飯の時間になった。ドンが幡龍のネギラーメンが気に入ったため、そこもう一度行ってみたいと言った。ドンの願いを叶おうじゃないか。実は、僕と妻もこの幡龍のネギラーメンが大好きです。
The pork they use in this ramen is so good too!
このネギラーメンに使用されてるチャーシューもたまらない！
Don and I also shared a plate of gyoza.
僕とドンは餃子をシェアしました。
Only two more days left until Don's return to the U.S. Stay tuned for more adventures.
ドンの旅はあと２日で終了致します。月曜日、８月６日、ドンはアメリカに帰国します。青森の冒険はまだちょっとつづきます。
