Katsuya and Asakusayaki / かつやと浅草焼き

Just in case you think me and my wife are just going around town eating at different places, let me settle your mind. Before having lunch and getting some snacks, we had gone to Hello Work (an employment office). I have not been sitting idle thinking a job would just land in my lap. I will have to go to a seminar some time after the New Year's holidays but I did check this morning as well and found one likely possibility - a children's English language conversation school. Hello Work would set up the interview. All I could do is wait. My mother-in-law had this day off as well so she joined us and afterward, we went shopping. My sister-in-law was just getting off work around noon, so the four of us went out to lunch. We decided on a fast food pork cutlet shop called [Katsuya]. These guys could give Yoshinoya a run for their money in the States. Huge portions at a reasonable price! Aside from my mother-in-law we all ordered the combination prawn, menchi and pork cutlet bowl. My mother-in-law ordered the tonjiru set.

青森のネタは食べ物ばっかりと思う方もいらしゃると思うので、ちょっと軽く説明しますね。僕と妻はずーと青森の食べ歩きはやってませんよ。昼食前は街の安定所（ハロー・ワーク）に行きました。青森の就職活動もちゃんとやってます。年明けにハロー・ワークの失業に対する説明会も行く予定。今日もハロー・ワークで求人してる会社も探してみましたので一軒良さそうなところありました。こども英会話学校。ハロー・ワークが会社に連絡を取り、面接の準備もしてくるそうな仕組みになってます。僕はただ連絡を待つだけ。本日義理の母も休日だったので一緒来てくれました。その後、買い物に行って、妻の妹も会いに行って４人でランチに行きました。行ったのは妻の妹の職場の近くにあるファーストフードの揚げ物屋、「かつや」。義理の母以外は豪華な盛り合わせの海老、ヒレ、メンチカツ定食を注文。義理の母は店の豚汁定食を注文。

We then dropped off my sister-in-law at her house. My mother-in-law suggested buying something called an Asakusayaki to take home so we went to a place that sold them. The snacks seem to be a different name for Imagawayaki, but they sure looked delicious.

妻の妹を家まで送って、義理の母が浅草焼きが食べたいと言い出して、浅草焼きが売ってる店に行きました。みれば今川焼きと同じと思った。でも美味しければそれで良し。
