In the spring of 2018, my wife and I joined my brother-in-law and his wife for a day trip to Akita Prefecture. Since it was my brother-in-law driving, instead of taking the non-toll roads, we headed to Akita by the highway.
２０１８年の春、義理の弟夫妻と一緒に秋田県に出かけました。私たちは普段有料道路使わないから、結構時間がかかる。ですが、今日義理の弟の運転なので、高速道路で行きました。
On our way to Akita, we stopped at this interesting looking shrine.
秋田に行く途中、最初に行ってみたのは小さな神社でした。

おう、見て。縁結びの猫ニャン。
Honden / 本殿
On the left is a koumi ishi, a "childbirth" rock. If a woman rubs the rock, then rubs her tummy, she will get pregnant and have a child. On the right is the dourokujin or God of Love.
左側にあるのは子生石。石をなでて、お腹をなでて、安産と子授を願いする。右側にあるのは道組神。縁結び、恋中円満と夫婦円満を願う。

We were invited inside for tea and coffee. I chose the tea.
本殿の中に誘われ、抹茶とコーヒーを頂きました。
My wife had the coffee. Her sister and husband were waiting inside the car.
妻がコーヒーを飲み、義理の弟夫婦は車で待ってた。
We were also given these cute snacks.
この可愛い飴まで頂いちゃった。
Of course I had to get my shrine seal as well.
もちろん御朱印を貰えないと。
I actually got two seals from Yasaka Shrine.
八坂神社で二つの御朱印をゲットした。
Then it was back on the road.
また道に戻った。
It was near the end of April but as we were going through a mountain pass, a lot of snow was still on the ground.
４月の下旬だったが、山を通ったため、雪がまだ結構残ってた。
次に止まったところは名水の場所。「茶たての清水」という所。
If you don't have your own plastic bottle, others have left empties in a box that free for you to take and use.
自分のペットボトルがなかけらば、空のペットボトルを持って帰れる様な場所もあり。
And now for our main destination. Well, my brother-in-law's goal.
さて、これがメインの目的地に到着する。本日は義理の弟希望の場所です。
This is the Kumosawa Kanko Drive-In. It is a 24-hour retro vending machine eatery.
ここが雲沢観光ドライブイン。レトロの自販機の勢揃いの場所。

There is a retro game corner as well.
レトロのゲームコーナーもあり。
We had some vending machine udon and ramen. They're actually pretty good.
販売機のうどんとラーメンを食べてみた。結構美味しいですよ。
I haven't seen some those brands of chewing gum in a while.
最近見てないブランドもいっぱいあった。

Somewhere between Akita and Hanamaki in Iwate Prefecture, we stopped at a place called Amaterasu Sumemioya Shrine.
秋田と岩手県花巻の間に天照皇御祖神社（あまてらすせみおやじんじゃ）に行きました。
Shrine to Bishamonten, one of the Seven Gods of Fortune.
七福神の毘沙門天に関する建物。
Oh my, I see some phallic objects.
ありゃ。男と女のアレがあるね。
I got two more shrine seals.
御朱印されに二つをゲットした。
Our next destination was the Marukan Building restaurant which is located on the sixth floor. We planned to eat dinner there and of course to experience what the restaurant is really known for - a soft serve that you eat with chopsticks!
次の目的地は花巻市にあるマルカンビル。６階にマルカン大食堂があり、そこで夕飯を食べることとそのレストランの名物、お箸で食べるソフトを堪能する。

I believe we all ordered the same dish - the Napolitan spaghetti with pork cutlet.

It was getting a little dark when we left.

And we said goodbye to Hotel [Hanamaki] as we head back home.
ホテル「花巻」にさようならを挿げて、靑森市に帰りました。
