函館二日目。私たちの宿は夕飯無しで予約したおかげで料金はなんと一人￥５４００。でも朝食付きでした。朝食は豪華なバイキングでした。でも朝食を食べる前に朝風呂を入らないっと。今日は７階にあるお風呂に行ってみた。

Next, it was breakfast time. Everything on the menu looked delicious and I wanted to try a bit of everything.
朝風呂のあとは朝食の時間。料理はなんでも美味しいそうに見えたし、全類食べようとして、いろんなものをちょっとずつを選びました。

言った通り、いろいろ食べてみたかった。

Okay, after checking out of the hotel, our next order of business was to check out the Yukura Shrine. It's only a short distance away.
さて、ホテルからチェックアウトして、次の目的地に向かう。それが湯の川にある湯倉神社。
Ooh, a public and free foot bath. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use it.
おう、無料の足湯。残念ながら使う暇はありませんでした。

It was about a ten minute walk from the hotel to Yukura Shrine. Here we are at the entrance.

This seems to be a new character designed for Yunokawa Hot Spring. She is called the Yunokawa Musume, Seira.

We missed seeing the monkeys at a nearby botanical garden. We will try to go there the next time we come to Hakodate.

We're nearing our destination. The white tower is the Goryokaku Tower and we are headed to Goryokaku.
目的地に近づいた。白い塔は五稜郭タワー。はい、私たちが目指してるのは五稜郭です。
I also can't resist these face panels. We pursuaded my sister-in-law to take part as well.
やっぱり顔出しパネルを見つかるとやりたくなる。義理の妹も顔を出してくれた。
Near Goryokaku is the main branch of the Ajisai ramen shop. However, we had just finished breakfast and did not go there for lunch.
この建物はラーメンチェイン店の「あじさい」の本店。朝食を食べ終わったばっかりなので、昼食の時間もまだ早いし、ここは食べに行ってません。

My wife spotted a large sign that said "Temple Seal" so of course we had to go check this place out.
妻が大きなのぼりを発見して、書いてあったのは”御朱印”。もちろん寄ってみるしかない。
This temple across the street from Goryokaku Park is called Saijoji Temple.
五稜郭公園の向かいにある、このお寺は最上寺でした。

I got two temple seals from here. Written in the middle of this one is Toshizo Hijikata, along with the stamp of the star-shaped fort.
このお寺で二つの御朱印をまらいました。上にあるのは土方歳三のやつ。五稜郭のスタンプも良いね。

Hey, this is another piece by Machiko Kodera, the same person who made the sculpture by the Mashu Maru.
この作品も小寺眞知子の作品だ。メモリアルシップ「摩周丸」の近くにあった彫刻と同じ人だ。

You know I had to have my picture taken here.
もちろんここで写真撮ってまるうしかない。
This time, we were not interested in going up the Goryokaku Tower as we have done that twice before. My main goal was to see the Old Magistrate's Office located in the middle of Goryokaku.
今回五稜郭タワーの上まで行くのを避けた。なぜと言えば、２回ほど登ったことがあるから。僕が一番見たいのは函館奉行所。

I offered to pay the entrance fee for everyone but my mother-in-law said she had already been here and my sister-in-law and wife were not interested in this building's history. I ended up touring the Magistrate's Office on my own while the other three walked around the park.
みんなの分の入場料を払ってあがえると言ったのに、義理の母は以前来たこともありと、妻と義理の妹は全然興味がなく、自分一人でこの建物の中を探索した。
As there were a lot of rooms in the building and I took my time going through each room, the tour of the Magistrate's Office will be the subject of my next post.
函館奉行所の中は結構広い。時間をかけて探索したので、奉行所については次回のときに紹介します。
