Golden Week Adventures 2019 Day 8 Road Trip to Ryusendo (Part 1) / ゴールデンウィーク冒険 ２０１９年 龍泉洞への旅 （パート１）

It's the last weekend of Golden Week. We wanted to make it worth our while so we went on another long road trip. This time our main goal was the Ryusendo Caves in Iwate Prefecture. It will take us about four and half hours to get there by car so we had an early start. We actually left our house around 6:40am.

ゴールデンウェイーク最終末。やっぱりまた豪華のドライブに出かけたい。そこで、私たちが岩手県にある龍泉洞を目指すことにした。龍泉洞はうちから車で約４時間半くらいかかる。朝早く旅に出ることにした。家を出発したのは朝６時４０分だった。

We drove through the Hakkoda Mountains by taking the Tashirotai route and found ourselves entering Karumai Town.

行きは山を超えて、田代平のルートに行きました。岩手県の軽米町に入りました。

Many of you may know that my wife and I had started to collect dam cards. Yes, there is such a thing as a dam trading card. They're just like baseball cards but one side features a picture of a dam and the other gives information about the dam. As we were on our way to the Ryusendo Caves, we spotted a dam so of course we had to stop and check it out. It was called the Taki Dam.

いろんな人はご存知と思いますが、僕と僕の妻はダムカードを集めてます。野球のトレカの同じように、日本全国にある一部のダムがダムカードを配布してます。龍泉洞を目指してる途中に滝ダムというところがありました。もちろんここで寄り道をしました。

As it was the weekend of Children's Day, there were carp streams across the dam.

今日はこどもの日だったので、ダムで鯉のぼりが飾ってました。

On the other side of the dam is the Nagauchi River.

ダムの反対側に長内川がありました。

Had to see the dam from this small observation deck.

この小さな展望台でダムを見る。

It's the ocean out yonder!

向こう側に海がある。

そして岩手県のダムカードを貰いました。

Now we must continue on to the Ryusendo Caves.
