十二湖と深浦の旅がつづいてまた海沿いの道に戻りました。また素敵な岩島を発見。残念ながらこれはちょっと陸から離れて登ることは出来ません。
My wife spotted this in the middle of the road in a town called Iwasaki. It appears a snake had shed its skin here.
妻が道の真ん中にこれを見た。調べてみたら蛇の死骸か脱皮したものでした。
We also stopped in at WeSpa Tsubakiyama. A resort area where you can rent a cottage and have a barbecue, experience glass-blowing at a glass workshop, take a tram up to an observation deck, enjoy a great meal at their restaurant called "Camelia", and watch the sunset from a hot spring. You can also enjoy a small bug museum if that's your desire.
帰りにまたウェスパ椿山に寄りました。ここはコッテージに泊まったり、バービキュを楽しんだり、ほかの体験も出来る、アクティビティ豊富な施設。グラス工房あり、物産館あり、昆虫館あり、楽しみいろいろ。スロープカーに乗って、白神展望台も行ったりして。もちろんレストランもあり、鍋石温泉から夕日も見る魅力的な場所です。
I'm also a fan of steam locomotives so I was excited to see one here on display. This 8620 series was retired in 1970.

This is the souvenir shop at WeSpa Tsubakiyama. It's called "Colobuckle". Looks like there are a bunch of dwarf's working on the roof here.
この建物はウェスパ椿山の物産館 「コロボックル」。屋根に小人が何人か居る。
I had to try the ice cream made with northern Japan's snow carrots. Not bad really!
ここで東北の雪人参ソフトを食べてみた。全然悪くない！
The slope-car that goes up a small mountainside to an observation deck. We decided to skip this. Gotta save some things for when my sister and husband visits eventually. When they do come, we are definitely staying at least one night here at WeSpa Tsubakiyama.
ウェスパ椿山にあるスロープカー。今回は乗ってませんでした。いざれ自分お妹が日本に遊びに来るときにウェスパで一泊したいので、楽しみはちょっと残さないっと。これを乗って山にある展望台から見る景色が良さそうと思う。
That's the observation deck on top of the mountain. You can see part of the slope-car tracks on the right as well.

We also decided to make a stop at the Bug Museum as well.
やっぱりせっかくなので、昆虫館にも行きました。

木が離れなくて、このままの写真になってわけです。
As we were waiting for the sun to set, my wife suggested going to the Michinoku Hot Spring which also houses the largest watermill in Japan.
夕日まであと２・３時間もあって、妻の提案でみちのく温泉で一風呂浴びたらどうと言って、そこに行きました。みちのく温泉に日本一の水車もある場所だって。
I remember my wife taking me here before we were married. Although we didn't take a bath at that time, we were able to see the watermill up close. Looks like more than ten years of neglect has made the area surrounding the watermill into a small jungle. It's now closed off to the public as well. This time, we were also unable to take a bath here as it was closed to day visitors. So, we decided to go to the more famous hot spring called Furofushi which is also located nearby. It's famous for its outdoor bath which is built along the edge of the ocean. People come here to take a bath outdoors and watch the sunset. Although, there is a separate bath for women, the other area is a mixed bath.
１０年以上前に妻が僕に連れてくれた思い出がある。その時水車はもっと近くに見れたが、周りの雑草が全然管理されてないみていでこれが現在の姿。もちろん立入禁止にもなってちょっと前年と思った。 ま、風呂が入れば良いと思ったら、本日にかぎｋって、日帰りのお客様は休みになってた。そういうわけで近くにあるもっと有名な温泉に行きました。風呂不死温泉に行きました。有名なのはここの露天風呂。海に面してるので、眺めが最高。人は露天に入って夕日を楽しむのがこの温泉の売り。露天風呂には女性用がありますが、男性用はありません。もう一箇所は混浴となってます。
Furofushi Hot Spring. The outdoor bath is in the center of the picture. We had enjoyed the bath on our last visit but as we are now in the summer season, the outdoor bath was only open to overnight guests. However, we could still enjoy the indoor baths which we did.
風呂不死温泉。露天風呂は写真の中央に写ってる。以前に来た時は露天も楽しめたが、今は夏の季節になって、宿泊客のみが露天風呂使用可能。ま、内風呂でも入れるから私たちはここで一休み。
Back to driving along the coast.
また海岸沿いに戻りました。
Another small island captured our interest. The sign says this place is called Bentan Island. Of course we had to explore it.
風呂を浴びたあと、また海沿いに走ったら、気になる島を発見。サインが弁天島と書いてるあるので、もちろんここも探索しました。
Still another couple of hours to sunset but those clouds are becoming even heavier.
まだ夕日まで時間があるけど段々空が曇ってきた。
I had a nice two shot picture of me with my wife but she said since she wasn't wearing any make-up after taking a bath at Furofushi to not post her pic.
弁天島の上で妻との良いツーショットの写真が撮りましたが、お風呂入って、ノーメイクになったからアップするのは勘弁してくれと言われた。
On the road again. We were no trying to find a good spot to watch the sunset. We were keeping our fingers crossed that once the sun started setting, the clouds wouldn't be a problem. To kill time, I asked my wife to drive by the Osamu Dazai Inn (another place the writer stayed) and now called the Fukaura Bungaku-kan (Fukaura Literature Mansion). I knew the place was closed since it was after 5pm, but I wanted to take a picture of the building.
道に戻って夕日が良く見える場所を探し始めました。太陽が沈むと雲が関係ないと思ったが、そうなるか？時間つぶしのため、太宰治の宿 ふかうら文学館に行こうと提案した。５時過ぎたので、営業はしてないとわかったが、建物自体の写真が撮りたかった。

Back on the road again to search for a good place to check out the sunset. We saw a sign for a park called [Yuhi Park] which translates to "Sunset Park". This looks promising.
夕日が見える場所また探し始めた。良さそうな場所を発見。「夕日公園」。ここなら最高の夕日が見れるでしょう。

The weather isn't getting any better either.
天気も段々悪化してます。
It was nearing dinner time and we had passed a cute little pizza shop that I noticed. My wife asked if I wanted pizza and it seemed like another good place to kill more time so it was decided.
夕飯の時間もなったし、可愛いピッツア屋を通り過ぎたので、妻がピッツア食べたいのと尋ねたら、うんと返事して、夕飯はピッツァに決定。

The interior of the shop. I noticed the guitars hanging on the wall and the amp. One guitar had a Slipknot sticker on it so I talked to the owner and discovered he liked hard rock and metal.
店内の雰囲気。壁にギターが二つあって、一つにスリップノットのシールが貼ってあるからマスターがロック好きと関心した。
We ordered two crispy crust pizzas. A Margherita and a Spicy Salsa.
ピッツア二つを注文しました。クリスピな生地で定番のマルゲリータと私たち好みのスパイシーサルサ。

Their Margherita pizza is made with Mozzarella cheese and is topped with onions, cut tomatoes, and basil.
この店のマルゲリータはオニオン、カットトマト、バジルとモッツァレラチーズ。

The spicy salsa pizza is topped with onions, red peppers, garlic chorizo, bacon, Italian sausage, cut tomatoes, and pepper.
スパイシーサルサはオニオン、鷹の爪、にんにくチョリソー、ベーコン、イタリアンソーセージ、カットトマト、とペッパーをトッピング。
Dinner was delicious. We want to come back and try some of the other pizzas we saw on the menu. The side menu is nice to with jerk chicken, seafood ajillo, nasi goreng, fish and chips and more. The owner told us the weather forecast called for rain so we gave up on trying to see today's sunset. But another spot captured our interest. A deserted station called Todoroki.
ピッツアはとっても美味しかった。またこの店に食べに来たいと私たちは大絶賛。サイドメニューも気になる。ジャークチキン、ナシゴレン、シーフードアヒージョ、フィッシュ＆チップス等も載ってる。 マスターが天気予報によると雨が降る。もうこれじゃ夕日が見るところじゃないから家に帰ることにしました。帰りの道にまた気になる場所発見。無人駅の「驫木」。こういうところが必竟というんですね。

超田舎に居るのはすぐわかる。電車が３・４時間に一本した通らない！

One last attempt to watch the sunset. It was to no avail. We will just have to come back when the weather is better.
夕日を見る最後のチャンス。やっぱり駄目でした。また天気が良い日にまた来るしかない。
We may not have seen the sunset as we hoped but we still had a great time. And now for the long drive back home.
夕日は見れなかったが、凄い楽し日帰り旅行でした。あとは家に帰るのみ。
