Road Trip to Misawa (Part 1) Unryu Daigogen Shrine, Aka Noren & the Sky Plaza / 三沢への旅 （パート１）雲竜大権現神社、赤のれんと三沢スカイプラザ

As our friends Yukio and Reiko were still in town for the New Year's holidays, we decided to go on a little road trip to Misawa. Our main reason would be to go to a restaurant called [Aka Noren] and savour its specialty dish - barayaki.

正月休みの為友達の幸男と玲子が青森に来ました。二日に会う約束して、ちょっとしたドライブで三沢市へ。目的は三沢にあるレストラン「赤のれんん」。店の名物がバラ焼き。それを食べに行く旅でした。

But before leaving for Misawa, we went to the Aomori Museum of Art. From Nov. 26th through Jan. 15th, there was a "Tom and Jerry" exhibition.  As much as I would have enjoyed the exhibition, Reiko only wanted to go to buy some "Tom and Jerry" goods.

三沢に行く前に青森県立美術館に行きました。去年の１１月２６日から１月１５日まで「トムとジェリー」の愉快な世界展が開催してました。展覧会は興味ありましたけど玲ちゃんはただトムとジェリーのグッズが欲しいってことで、美術館の店にした行ってません。

三沢への道。

A short stop at the Michi no Eki (Road Station). It was just a nature break. We didn't buy anything here.

道の駅でトイレ休憩。ここでなにも買いませんでした。

We did a little research and decided to check out one of the main shrines in Misawa before heading off to lunch.

ちょっと調べて、昼食を食べる前にある神社にお参りしました。

We made our first stop at Unryu Gongen Shrine. It was a rather small shrine and they did provide any shrine seals.

最初に行ったのは雲竜権現神社。小さな神社で御朱印はやっておりませんでした。

Once we finished lunch, we headed to the Sky Plaza. My wife's sister had recommended a grilled chicken place there so we thought we would check it out and order some to take home.

ランチを食べ終わったら近くにあるスカイプラザに行きました。妻の妹がそこの中の鶏肉の店が気になって、調べてみることにした。出来ればそのチキンを持ち帰る予定。

We found the chicken shop my sister-in-law was talking about. Lani Chicken Factory. And we did order some chicken for take-out.

義理の妹が言ってた鶏肉の店すぐ発見しました。ラニ・チキン・ファクトリ。もちろんチキンの持ち帰りを頼みました。

As Misawa Air Base is located nearby, there were many American products for sale at the Sky Plaza. I noticed that a lot of the items were from Costco.

三沢の空軍基地が近くにあるので、スカイプラザにアメリカのものがいっぱい置いてあった。半分くらいはコストからのものでした。

本当にアメリカのグッすがいっぱい販売してる。

I even spotted King Kong at the bottom of the stairs!

Less than a block away is the entrance to Misawa Air Base.

スカイプラザのすぐ近くに三沢空軍基地の入口があった。

On our way back to Aomori City, we decided we stop by the Asamushi Aquarium before heading to a hot spring and then to my sister-in-law's house. My sister-in-law's husband is a really good friend of Yukio's so who knows what the night might hold in store for us.

青森市に戻る途中浅虫水族館行くことに決めました。そこを探索したら、街の中にある温泉に行って、最後は義理の妹の家に行く。義理の妹の旦那は幸男の大親友なので、どうなるか？
