The last time we went back to my hometown of Seattle was in the summer of 2018. After returning to Japan, we decided to spend a one night in Tokyo. We had also made reservations for a late departure from Tokyo to Aomori so we could enjoy our stay during the day. In fact, we reserved a hotel in Sangejaya.
最後に自分の実家シアトルに行ったのは２０１８年の夏。帰りで東京に一泊することを決めた。靑森市帰りの新幹線は２０時東京発も決めた。そうすれば、僕と妻が昔住た場所の周りの散歩が出来るから。それは事前に計画したこと。実は、私たちが宿泊するホテルも三軒茶屋にした。

You go away for two years and when you visit, you discover new shops, like the burger shop called [The Third Burger].
東京から離れて約２年しか経てないのに、戻る新しい店がいっぱい誕生してる。例えば、このバーガーショップの「The サードバーガー」。
However, some place to remain unchanged like the Gorilla Building on Chazawa Street.
でも、まったく変らない所もある。例えば、茶沢通りにあるゴリラビル。
And yet another new burger shop opened after we moved.
引っ越したあとにまた別のバーガーショップが出来た。
What's this? A third burger shop???
何これ？ ３軒目の新しいバーガーショップ？？？
This is better. An area that hasn't changed much is Suzuran Street near Sangenjaya station on the Setagaya Line.
あっ、ここ見ると落ち着く。ここはあんまり変ってない。すずらん通は世田谷線の三軒茶屋駅の近くにある。
Carrot Tower. We often came here as the DVD rental shop which was opened until 4am was located on the 2nd floor.
キャロットタワー。ここは結構お世話になった建物。DVDレンタルショップのTSUTAYAが２階にあったから。そのTSUTAYAは朝４時まで営業してた。
A burger chain you won't find in Aomori City or Aomori Prefecture for that matter.
日本のバーガーチェイン店ですが、靑森市や靑森県には１軒もありません。

We decided to take a walk along one of the "green paths" of which you will find many in Tokyo. This was one we always used to walk from apartment to Carrot Tower.
いつも散歩して緑道も散歩してた。東京生活でいつもうちのアパートからキャロットタワーでこの緑道を歩いていた。
In case of an emergency (i.e. earthquake), we would plan to meet here.
万が一自然災害があった場合（例えば地震）、この小さな公園で集合することもあった。

This was a favorite restaurant of mine. It is specialty beef stew restaurant but my favorite dish on their menu was their grilled chicken with garlic sauce.
ここが自分が大好きだった飲食店。ビーフシチューの専門店ですが、自分のお気に入りのメニューはここのガーリックチキン。

The design is the maneki neko, known in English as the "beckoning cat". The sign on the train says it's the 110th anniversary of the Tokyu Tamagawa Line.

Oh, we went to Shibuya. That train is no longer displayed there though. It is now displayed in Odate in Akita Prefecture.

Now, we are just waiting to get our train to take us back to Aomori City.
現在は靑森市に連れてくれる新幹線を乗るのを待っているだけ。
One of the best things about riding on the Shinkasen is eating ekiben. Not only do you get to enjoy the meal, you get to enjoy the packaging and presentation too.
新幹線に乗るもう一つの楽しみは駅弁を食べることです。駅弁を食べる楽しみだけじゃないよ。パッケージや弁当の見栄えも楽しめる。
