Hirakawa Illumination Promenade / ひらかわイルミネーションプロムナード

This year, my wife found some information about an illumination event happening in Hirakawa City - The Hirakawa Illumination Promenade. It is held from November 22, 2022 to February 14, 2023. The lighting takes place from 4:30pm to 9:00pm at Hiraka Station and Chuo Park. We decided to check it out last week. 

今年妻が得た情報で平川市にあるイベントが開催してた。それが「ひらかわイルミネーションプロムナード」。開催期間は２０２２年１１月２２日から２０２３年２月１４日まで。ライタップは１６時半から２１時まで。場所は平賀駅前と駅の近くにある中央公園。先週行ってみた。

And now for what we really came to see. 

さて、本当のイルミネーションの目標は下記のものです。

This is what we really came to see. Taiwanese lanterns in front of Hiraka Station. 

本当の目的はこれ。平賀駅前に飾ってる台湾ランタン

Why are there Taiwanese lanterns displayed in Hirakawa City? That was mystery we solved when we got there. 

なぜ平川市平賀駅まえに台湾ランタンがあるんだろ？その謎もすぐ解いた。

It is because Hirakawa City started a cultural exchange program with Taichung in Taiwan. 

それは青森県平川市と台湾、台中市の交流イベントが始まったからだ。

A train just happened to stop at the station when I took a peak. Nice artwork on the car. 

駅の中を覗いたら丁度電車が停車してた。車両のアートが良いですね。

I'm not sure who she's supposed to be but she was in the station too.

彼女は誰かしりませんけど、駅員かも知りません。

We didn't get tired of looking at the Taiwanese lanterns. 

台湾ランタン長く見ても飽きなかった。

My wife said to get more of the lanterns in the shot.

妻が台湾ランタンをもっと写真に入れるべきと言われた。

Then she said, hey, where's the rest of my body?

そしたら、私の体は？

Me with my mother-in-law. 

義理の母と一緒。

I wanted to get a shot of the panda with the lighted trees. 

ライトアップされてる木とパンダの写真が撮りたかった。

It was snowing and very cold when we went to see the illumination and since we are in Hirakawa City, we then went to Onoe Hot Spring [Fukuya] to warm up! It was an end to a great evening.

イルミネーションを見た時雪も降ってし、超寒かった。せっかく平川市まで来たので、このあとは尾上温泉「福屋」に行きました。最高の休日を過ごした感じ。
