あるイベントの開催時に里帰りの計画を立てた。それが毎年自分の実家の待ちが行うフードフェスティバル。フェスの名前はテイスト・オブ・タコマ。今年は６月２２日から２４日まで。２２日に到着したばっかりだったので、２３日の土曜日に行くの決定してました。友達のドンも一緒行くことだった。彼が僕の妻に、国際運転免許を持ってるから、俺のトラックを運転して良いよと言ってくれた。だが、妻がトラックを見て、大きすぎるから怖い。でも広い駐車場に行って、そこで妻が安心でそのトラックを運転することが出来た。駐車場の近くにイベント行きのシャトルバスがあり、それに乗るつもりです。会場はタコマの一番大きな公園、ポイント・ディファイアンス・パークで開催。

Next, we hopped on the shuttle bus to Point Defiance to enjoy the Taste of Tacoma!

最初はやっぱりどういう料理があるのかを確認する。
The first item today was from the New Orleans Cookery. There aren't many Cajun restaurants in Tokyo and absolutely none in Aomori City and as I love Cajun food, ordering something from here was a given. We shared a bowl of etouffee.
最初に食べたものはニューオーリンズ・カフェ。東京でケイジャン料理店が少ないと青森市に全然無いためやっぱりここになにかを食べるのは当たり前だった。だって僕はケイジャン料理が大好き。注文したのはエトゥフェ。エトゥフェは野菜やザリガニ入りのスパイスのきいたケイジャン風シチュー。
With the etouffee, we also had gator on a stick.

This looks like another promising booth. A place called Piggly's BBQ. I must check it out.

Next, we went to the food truck area. This was the Itty Bitty Schnitty truck which serves a German dish called the itty bitty schnitty!
次は移動式販売トラックのエリアに行ってみた。このトラックの会社名はイティ・ビィティ・シュニティ。提供してるものも同じ名前。

- シリアルは串で取って下さい。
- 口の中に入れたら、ちゃんと噛んで下さい。そのまま舌に置くと冷凍焼けになる可能性がある。

After enjoying all the food at the Taste of Tacoma, we went back home to rest. I told my mother not to bother making dinner tonight as I would be headed out to see more friends at a neighborhood restaurant called "Topside Bar and Grill" in Steilacoom. I sent a message to my friends via Facebook and word of mouth to have a get together there.
テイスト・オブ・タコマを堪能したあとは家に帰ってちょっとリラックした。母に今夜は夕飯を作らなくて良いと言ってあげた。今夜もまた別の店で友達と会う予定。自分の兄が住んでる町、スティラクームにあるレストラン・バーの「トップサイド・バー＆グリル」に行く。友達はフェイスブックやクチコミで話をして、今夜も楽しみにしてました。
I was surprised that my friend Emily came out to Tacoma from Virginia just for the weekend to see me! That made me really happy. She was and will always be my first love. I had a crush on her since the sixth grade!

Classmate from high school named Michael Maruyama. We didn't really talk much back then. It was after we hooked up through Facebook that we became better friends.

And so ended my evening. Tomorrow will be the start of a new adventure. My wife, along with my sister are planning on spending the day up in Seattle. I will be meeting more friends there as well. My US travelogue will continue.
