Fujita Memorial Garden / 藤田記念庭園

Continuing with our outing to Hirosaki in the spring of 2018, after we enjoyed seeing the cherry blossoms at Hirosaki Park, we then decided to go to the Fujita Memorial Garden. 

２０１８年の春、弘前公園で桜を堪能したあと、近くにある藤田記念庭園に行って来ました。

Another cool building (in my opinion anyway) we passed as we were headed to the gardens. 

また良い建物を見た。ま、自分がカッコイイと想ってるだけかも。

On the side of the truck (or cart), it says "Chidren's Fire Brigade".

Yes, we saw cherry blossoms at the Fujita Memorial Garden as well. 

はい、藤田記念庭園で花見もしました。

This is the former Fujita Family Villa, also known as the "Western House". Inside is a craft and cafe called [Takumikan]. 

藤田記念庭園の中に旧藤田家別邸「洋館」が建てる。建物の中にクラフト＆カフェ「匠館」がある。

The garden may not be as large as Hirosaki Park but it still has its own charm. 

弘前公園ほど広くないが、自分の魅力はある。

I love the weeping cherry blossom in the background. 

個人的にしだれ桜が一番好きな桜の木。

The former Fujita Residence Villa [Japanese House]. 

この建物は旧藤田家別邸「和館」。

The sign says this is a suikinkutsu which translates to English as an "Aquarian Harp". 

「水琴窟」と書いてあるので、なんだろと想った。

I see. Pretty interesting.

なるほど。面白い。

しだれ桜の近くまで見に来た。

On our way home, we stopped at the Namioka Roadside Station [Apple Hill] and had gelato and a tofu donut. 

帰りの途中なみおか道の駅「アップルヒル」でジェラートとおからドーナツを食べた。

And we checked out the carp streamers above the Shinjo River. 

新城川の上の恋のぼりも見た。

And thus ended our Hirosaki adventure. 

そして弘前冒険の幕が閉じた。

Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 / 弘前桜祭り ２０１８

We didn't really check out the cherry blossoms at any special place this year so I thought I would revisit one of our previous outings to the Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival. We went to Hirosaki Park around the end of April in 2018. 

今年は別にどっかで花見をしたわけでもなく、桜をメインにしてどっかでかけた訳でもなく、普通に過ごした季節だった。それで、２０１８年弘前公園で開催してた桜まつりを紹介しようと想ってます。

Hirosaki Castle Ninomaru South Gate / 弘前城二の丸南門

You can see Hirosaki Castle in the background.

If you go to the park before 9:00am, you can enter the castle area for free. After 9:00am, there is an admission fee of about 300yen. 

朝９時前に行けば、弘前城の有料エリアをただで行ける。９時以降なら、３００円くらいだったかな。

Hirosaki Castle / 弘前城

As the castle wall is being repaired, the castle was moved from its original position to where you see it now. 

現在弘前城の石壁を直してる最中なので、弘前城のオリジナル場所から移動されてる。壁が治る次第、元の場所に戻す予定。約５・５年後となる。

Since we got in free we decided to check out the inside of the castle as well. Picture above is a propulsion hydraulic jack used to move the castle. 

有料エリアをただで入ったため、弘前城の中も探索した。上記の写真は推進用油圧式ジャッキ。これとローラーを使用して城を移動した。

The summit of Mount Iwaki actually consists of three mountains - Mt. Chokai, Mt. Iwaki, and Mt. Ganki.

岩木山の頂上は三つの山です。鳥海山、岩木山と厳鬼山。

There's a cafe located inside this building called [Kita no Kuruwa]. 

この建物の中に喫茶「北の郭」が入ってる。

Time to get some snacks. 

ちょっと小腹が空いて、食べ物の屋台に行った。

I'm not sure what this building is. 

なんの建物が分からない。

But it looks cool. 

でもなんかカッコイイな。

And then it was time for lunch. 

そして昼食の時間となった。

If memory serves, we had Naka Miso Ramen somewhere. Apparently, it is one of Hirosaki citizen's soul food. 

自分の記憶が確かならば、どっかで中みそラーメンを食べた。弘前市民のソールフードらしい。

After lunch, we will check out the Fujita Memorial Gardens.
