Chinese Restaurant [Kichun] / 中国料理「吉慶（きっちゅん）

Recently, my wife and I bought these Aomori City gift coupons for 10,000yen and received 13,000yen in exchange. The coupons are good at a number of different shops including many different restaurants.  She saw an ad on television where a Chinese restaurant called [Kichun] was promoting a ramen dish with oysters called "kaki onmen". As I told my wife, I would treat her to lunch sometime, that sometime was now. I also ended up treating my mother-in-law as well. 

景気の復興のため青森市がギフト券を販売してました。一万円を買うと一万三千円分のギフトカードを貰える。カードはいろんな店で使用出来る、デパートやスーパー、そして飲食店も。妻がテレビである中華料理店の宣伝を見てました。旬の食材の牡蠣を使って、牡蠣温麺が食べたいって。この間、そのギフト券で僕がランチが夕飯をご馳走してあげるから、ランチが僕のおごりになりました。その日は義理の母も一緒でした。店の名前は「吉慶」（きっちゅん）。

[Kichun] is located on the second floor of the Aomori Kokusai Hotel. 

「吉慶」は青森国際ホテルの2階にあります。

My wife said the oyster ramen looked really good when she saw the ad on television, but she was not impressed with the actual dish. 

妻がテレビで見たときは凄い美味しそうに見えたが、実際食べてみたら感動するほとではなかったと言ってた。

My wife was surprised that I actually ordered the sweet and sour pork set as she knows I'm not that fond of vinegar. 

僕が酢豚のセットを注文たら妻がびっくりした。なぜと言えば、僕が大の酢嫌いと分かってるから。でもなぜか食べたかった。

Chinese Restaurant [Eitaro] / 中華料理店 「塋太郎」

After moving to Aomori City and getting our car, we would drive everywhere. The sign in front of this restaurant caught my interest. There is a large sign advertising Viet Cong ramen. I was wondering what the heck is a Viet Cong ramen. All it says was that it was a spicy type of ramen. The Viet Cong ramen sign is larger and more prominent than the actual store sign so I thought this was mainly a ramen shop. It turned out to be a Chinese restaurant and Viet Cong ramen seems to be one of their main staples.

青森市に引っ越して、車を購入して、妻と良くドライブに出かけるようになって、気になる店の看板がいつも目に入った。ベトコンラーメンと書いてあった。ベトコンラーメンっていったいなんだろうと思い、やっとここでランチを食べに行った。ベトコンラーメンの看板が一番大きくて、メインがラーメン屋と思ったら、入口に中華料理「塋太郎」と書いてあった。でもベトコンラーメンがどういうラーメンか知りたくて、入って注文しました。

There are two large signs advertising Viet Cong ramen. At the top of the sign, it says spiciness and deliciousness. And since I love spicy foods, of course I knew I would eventually try it.

ベトコンラーメンの看板が２箇所もあり、凄い押してるだろうなって感じ。辛さと甘さが売りで辛いもの好きの俺にはやっぱり食べてみたい。

The interior had a counter space and a few tables. A small diner with a relaxed atmosphere kind of vibe. Nothing special really.

店内は極普通。どこでもありそうな食堂って感じ。

定食と一品料理のメニュー。値段的にも安いほうと思う。

The ramen menu. You can ask the staff to adjust the spiciness of the Viet Cong ramen. 

ラーメンメニュー。ベトコンラーメンの辛さは調節出来ると書いてある。通常は３倍の辛さ。

Well, what can I say about the Viet Cong ramen. It was just okay. Pretty much a regular ramen topped with a little red pepper. It wasn't very spicy either. My wife was rather disappointed so we probably won't be coming back to this restaurant anytime soon.

肝心のベトコンラーメンの感想？以外と普通。ただ一味か七味をラーメンにかけてるだけの感じ。辛さもそんなに感じませんでした。妻はちょっとがっかりして、多分このレストランにまた行くことはないでしょう。

But we did go to a shop that was selling chicken wings from Sekai no Yama-chan (one of our favorite restaurants to go to in Tokyo) for a limited time. Of course we had to buy it.

ま、でもこの時、ある店に期間限定で世界の山ちゃんの幻の手羽先が売れて、もちろん購入しました。だって、青森市に世界の山ちゃんの店はありません！
