Work Neighborhood Walk and Happy Standard / 新町周辺の散歩と「ハッピー・スタンダード」

Earlier this year, in March, I was walking around my work neighborhood. It was a Thurday but it was a national holiday. I believe I went to check out this used CD shop before wandering around. 

今年の３月２０日、職場の周辺で散歩してました。平日だったけど、春分の日だった。日本なら春分の日は祝祭日です。職場近くにある中古CDショップを覗いたあとに、散歩した。

I spotted a vending machine advertising the Japan Blues Festival in Aomori. That might have been a cool show to check out. 

ある販売機でジャパン・ブルース・フェスティバルの宣伝を見かけました。ウェブアドレスは書いてあるけど、チェックしませんでした。

Aomori Prefecture is famous for its Jomon sites so you may spot these replicas of clay figures found at the various Jomon sites around town. 

靑森県は縄文時代の場所が数ヶ所あるので、こういった土偶は街のあちこちにある。

A Nebuta float on display at the To-o Nippo Shinmachi Building [News TO-O]. 

東奥日報新町ビル「News TO-O」の中に展示されてるねぶた。

The title of the Nebuta is [Yoshitsune and the Flying Dragons across the Romantic Strait]. 

ねぶたのタイトルは「浪漫海峡 義経龍飛」。

From June 30 to July 6, a music festival was going to be held in Aomori. I think it was more of a classical music event. 

６月３０日から７月６日まで、青い海と森の音楽祭が開催された。主にクラシックミュージックのイベントでした。

I decided to stop by a place called [Happy Standard]. This is where you get Aomori Tacos and spice beer. 

気になってた場所に行きました。それが靑森新町パッサージュにある「ハッピー・スタンだード」。靑森タコスとスパイスビールを提供している店です。

You can get a glass of spice beer and an Aomori taco at the low price of one thousand yen.

For the spice beer, you also have a choice of choosing dry or sweet. I actually had both!

Dining Room [Tsugaru no Aji] / 津軽の味 食堂部

 My wife told me she used to frequent this place when she was in elementary school. It's a small diner and snack joint called [Tsugaru no Aji]. It's located near the Aomori Prefectural Athletic Park, close to the public swimming pool. 

妻が小学校時代に良く行った場所と教えてくれた。青森県総合運動公園の近くにある「津軽の味・食堂部」。園内のプールが一番近くにある設備。

It has this very homey atmosphere and makes you feel like you've slipped back in time to the Showa era. 

店内は結構アットホームな雰囲気で昭和時代にタイムスリップした感じにもなる。

I probably didn't know at the time but the poster boys for the Seiko Avenue watch was Johnny's Entertainment rock band Otokogumi.

多分最初に行ったとき、セイコーアベニューの腕時計を宣伝しているのはジャニーズ事務所所属だったロックバンド男闘呼組だった。

I did a little research and discovered the the shop pictured in the black and white picture was a restaurant on Shinmachi Street near Aomori Station. The picture is from the 1940s and features a place called [Taishu Shokudo]. It appears the restaurant is still in business. It is currently called [Taishu Shokudo : Tsubo 19].

 

ちょっとインタネットで調べたところ、白黒写真で飾ってるのは昭和４０年代、靑森駅前大通りにあった「大衆食堂」。店はまだ健在です。名前が「大衆食堂 十九坪」。

The shop does have that Show era atmosphere.

店内は本当に昭和時代の雰囲気を出してると思う。

I did eat one of their crispy frankfurters. That was pretty good. 

店のパリパリフランクを食べました。美味しかったよ。

Here's another thing that's been disappearing from view. A beer and liquor vending machine. 

これもまたまた珍しいもの。段々消えて行くビールとスピリッツの自動販売機。

Nuruyu Hot Spring [Kazen no Sho] / 温湯温泉 「花禅の庄」

Earlier this year, in March, after we had lunch at the Indian restaurant [Pokara Dining], we went to a hot spring in Kuroishi. We went to a place called [Kazen no Sho] at the Nuruyu Hot Spring area. 

今年の３月、インドレストラン「ポカラダイニング」でランチを食べ終わってから、黒石にある温湯温泉郷に行きました。目的地の場所は「花禅の庄」。

A little refreshment before we head home. A small bottle of Shiny Aomori apple juice. 

帰る前にちょっとした飲み物。シャイニーアップルジュース「靑森のおもてなし」。

Leaving the inn. It looks like a cool place to stay but probably a bit on the expensive side. 

宿を去るところです。ここで宿泊するのも良いかも、でもちょっと高そう。

And so ends another adventure.
