At the beginning of this month, my wife and I decided we wanted to see the autumn colors somewhere so we chose to go to Lake Towada. We usually drive through the mountains but we checked the live camera at Sukayu Hot Spring and found that it was raining with a high chance of snow so we decided to take the more roundabout route by driving around the mountains and going through the towns of Noheji and Tohoku Town. It was a good thing too as we learned that the mountain road was closed due to bad weather. The disadvantage of going around the mountains is that it adds an hour to our driving time.
As we passed through the Oisrase Gorge, I managed to take a picture of the Kumoi Falls from the car.
I see the area has prepared some illumination.
Here is the Statue of the Maidens.
I like the silouette of the people in the boat in this picture.
Nice yellow colors.
Here we are eating some miso kiritanpo.
A different waterfall.
We only stayed around the lake for about a half-hour before making the long drive back to Aomori. It seems we only came here to eat kiritanpo.
