My Mother's Visit (Day 2) / 母の訪問 （二日目）

As with my sister, we decided to take my mother to the Sukayu Hot Spring near Hakkoda Mountain. Today my sister-in-law and her husband would be joining us as well.

妹と同じ様にお母さんも八甲田山の近くにある酸ヶ湯温泉に連れてあげた。今日は妻の妹夫妻は一緒に行くことになった。

My mother wanted to make sure that you could see the snow in the background.

お母さんの指示でちゃんと雪も見える様に写真を撮ってちょうだいと言われた。

Although a mixed bath, it was not crowded as this picture panel shows.

酸ヶ湯は混浴ですが、これほどの混雑ではありませんよ。

Mom ordered the sansai soba.

Unfortunately for my mother, when we reached the Sukayu Hot Spring, they were in the process of changing the water in the sennin buro (1000 person bath) so the water only came up to their knees and was extremely hot. My wife and sister-in-law didn't realize they could come to the other bath that was full. I could hear my wife and sister-in-law laughing and wondered what they were laughing about. My wife told me, because we came here to the Sukayu Hot Spring, my mother wanted to get the most out of her trip. So my mother sprawled out face down and was utterly still. My wife and sister-in-law were laughing because they thought she looked like a dead person floating in the water.

残念なことに、私たちが行った時間帯にちょうど千人風呂のお湯を取り替える最中だった。深いはずの千人風呂がひざまでで凄い浅井、そしてとっても暑い。妻は気づいてませんでしたが、もうひとつの風呂に入ればよかった。でもそっちの風呂は壁がなく完全な混浴状態です。僕はなぜか妻と義理の妹の笑い声がして、なんの話してるんだろうなとおもい。あとで聞いたら、うちのお母さんが仙人風呂を満喫したくて、母さんがうちぶせの状態で動かず体制になったらし。妻と妻の妹がその姿を見て、まるで千人風呂に死体が浮かんでるように見えて笑ってた。

My wife felt bad for my mother so we decided to take to one more hot spring. We went to the Roadside Station in Asamushi where there is a hot spring located on the 5th floor of the building with a nice view of Mutsu Bay.

妻が自分のお母さんが可哀想と思って、別の温泉に連れてあげることにした。浅虫の道の駅のビルの５階に展望台浴室があり、陸奥湾が眺める最高の温泉。

You can enjoy this view while soaking in a bath at the hot spring at the Asamushi Roadside Station.

お風呂入りながら、この同じビューを眺めます。

For me, there is nothing better than having a bottle of milk coffee after taking a bath.

個人的にお風呂上がりのコーヒー牛乳が最高だと思います。

We also told my mother about the shop with over 100 flavors of shakes so we had to stop there as well.

もちろんみちのくのシェイクの店も教えてあがたので、当然そこに寄りました。

More adventures with Mom forthcoming. My mother would be heading back to Maizuru in another couple of days.
