For our first autumn living in Aomori City, we decided to check out the fall colors at the Hakkoda Ropeway and Jogakura Bridge.
青森市に引っ越して、初の秋を迎えたころ、紅葉を八甲田ロープウェイと城ヶ倉橋に行ってきました。
Uh...yeah, we were a little surprised by the price of the ropeway tickets - 1850 yen per person.
ロープウェイの値段にびっくりした。一人様￥１８５０。ちょっと高いな。

We had lunch on top of the mountain. Soba and curry rice.
ランチは山頂公園駅の中。そばとカレーライス。

We decided to walk the Tamoyachidake Nature Trail.
田茂萢岳自然研究路を歩くことにした。
It says Hakkoda Mountain is full of volcanoes.
八甲田に火山がいっぱい存在してると書いてある。
I spotted a resident of the mountains.
山の住民を発見。
Lots of ferns grow around here too.
シダ植物もいっぱいあります。
Another type of plant that grows in the area is the dwarf Japanese stone pine.
ハイマツは高山植物としてよく知られ、八甲田でも山頂部を中心に大小の群落が見られます。
In the winter with all the snow that falls, it creates "snow monsters".
冬の間雪が結構降ると、樹氷が出来、”スノー・モンスターズ”と呼ばれてます。

From where we are standing, we can see the Kenashitai Wetlands.
ここの時点で毛無岱が見られる。
Here we are back at the Hakkoda Ropeway summit Park Station.
八甲田ロープウェイ山頂公園駅に戻りました。
Waiting for the ropeway so we can go down the mountain.
ロープウェイ待ちで山から下りる。
We then drove to the Jogakura Bridge which was located a short distance away.
八甲田のロープウェイから降りて、次目指したのは近くにある城ヶ倉橋。

We're now standing at the highest point on the bridge from the ground, 400 feet above the ground. You can also see that the bridge is 1180 feet long.
今立ってる場所は地上最高点。１２２メーター。そしてブリッジの長さも書かれてる。３６０メーターだ。

We've looking down at the Jogakura Valley.
橋の上から見てたのは城ヶ倉渓谷。
Stairway leading down to the valley. Unfortunately, it has been closed to be public for some time now.
城ヶ倉渓谷に行く階段。残念ながら何年間前に立入禁止となった。
Since you can no longer go down to the valley, had to use the telephoto option on my smartphone.
渓谷まで行けないので、写真をズームするしかない。
Okay, we've had a full day of checking out the autumn foliage. Time to head back home.
はい、結構紅葉を堪能したので、これから家に帰る。
On our way back, we stopped at the Kayano Chaya.
帰りの途中かやの茶屋で一旦休憩。
Everybody is drinking "long life tea".
みんなが”長生き茶”を飲んでます。
We also drank the tea and ate some oden and gohei mochi.
私たちも長生き茶を飲みながら、おでんとごへい餅を食べた。
