| On a Sunday, my wife and I went on a drive to explore the town of Imabetsu. On our way there, we stopped by this temple in Sotogahama called Monpoji Temple. ある日曜日、妻とドライブに出かけて、今別町を目指した。今日の目的は今別町探索。今別町に着く前に、外ヶ浜でこのお寺を発見。宇田山耳法寺（うださんもんぽうじ）を発見。 |
You couldn't help but notice the statue of a monk in a boat.
ボートに乗った僧侶の像は無視できないものでした。
I went exploring the temple grounds on my own as my wife waited in the car.
妻が車に残り、自分が境内を探索しました。

奥にあるのは陸奥湾。
I was determined to hit all the points of interest in Imabetsu in one day. After I checked out the Monpouji Temple, we stopped here to see the Daruma Waterfall.
一日で今別町の観光名所を全て見ようとする計画でした。お寺はまだ外ヶ浜にあり、今別町の最初の目的地はだるま滝。

The next point of interest on our Imabetsu adventure was the Iwaya Kannon.
今別町冒険の次の目的は岩屋観音。
Yep, there is a small Kannon located in a small cave along the side of the road.
はい、岩屋観音は道の端っこの洞窟の中にある。
Mutsu Bay / 陸奥湾
We had to park the car here and walk a short distance to the Iwa Kannon.
車はここで駐車して、徒歩５分のところに岩観音がある。
This is another point of interest in Imabetsu. It is the Akanezawa no Akai Iwa or the Red Rock of Akanezawa. It is an Aomori Prefecture designated cultural asset.
これも今別観光マップに記載されてる。これが赤根沢の赤い岩。青森県有形文化財の天然記念物。

| Shinko Maru / 信光丸 |
We stopped at Cape Takano where we found this small restaurant called [Shinko Maru] and decided to have lunch there.
次行ってみたのは高野崎。「信光丸」というレストランがあって、ここでランチを食べることにした。
I ordered a popular Aomori regional dish called kaiyaki miso. It is a grilled scallop on the half-shell topped with eggs and miso.
僕が注文したのは青森県で人気がある貝焼き味噌。
This is my main dish.
これが僕のメイン。
This was my wife's order. A seafood bowl set.
妻が注文したランチは海鮮丼のセット。
The fish was freshly caught this morning. My wife said it was one of the best kaisendon meals she's ever had.
妻の海鮮丼の魚は朝の取れたてのものばっかり。妻が今まで食べた海鮮丼の中でこれが一番美味しかったって。
Cape Takano Lighthouse / 高野崎灯台
We planned to walk down to the water to where there are a couple of bridges.
二つの赤い橋があるところまで歩く予定。

僕が一番見たかった場所がこの二つのアーチ型橋。
The bridge in the foreground is called the Shiosai Bridge and the bridge further out is the Nagisa Bridge.
手前にある橋は潮騒橋、奥にあるのは渚橋。
The waters were a little rough so we didn't cross the Nagisa Bridge.
海がちょっと荒れてたので、渚橋までは行かなかった。

We always have ice cream somewhere when we go on these drives.
ドライブに出かけると必ずどっかでアイスを食べる。
I saw this sign pointing the way to a Kannon statue so I suggested to my wife that we should go check it out.
高野崎の近くに観音様の場所のサインが表示されて、妻に行ってみようと提案した。
We drove up a narrow mountain road and my wife was getting a little worried. But we found the Kannon statue which overlooks the Tsugaru Strait.
狭い山道を走て、妻がちょっと心配になったけど、観音様まで辿り着いた。観音様は津軽海峡を眺めてました。
The Horozuki Coast / 袰月海岸
Another monument featuring Kyozo Takagi. Written is something in the Tsugaru dialect.
これも高木恭造の記念碑。津軽弁になにかが書かれてる。
Another interesting scenic point in Imabetsu that's easily missed - the Horozuki Kaiundo-shakado Temple.
今別町でまた面白い場所がありました。ここは袰月海雲洞釈迦堂です。
These Christian signs continue to fascinate me. This one translates to "The reward for sin is death”-from the Bible.
なんでキリスト教のサインが多いのは不思議と思う。
Now we were going to check out a couple of temples.
これからちょっと今別お寺巡り。

A sign that says this is the Honkakuji Temple that appears in Osamu Dazai's book, Tsugaru.

It was kind of a lonely place.

The shrine was like most shrines in Aomori Prefecture - deserted.
この神社もやっぱり人はいませんでした。僕と妻はこういうところ無人（神）社という。
Our timing was great as a train was passing by.
タイミングの運がよく電車が来た。
The Shoin Kuguri / 松陰くぐり
Hey, we can see the Cape Takano Lighthouse from where we are now.
現在地で高野崎灯台が見える。
A monument about Shoin Yoshida called "Tohoku Diary". When we lived in Tokyo, our apartment was located near Shoin Shrine which was named after Shoin Yoshida.
吉田松陰「東北日記」の記念碑。東京に住んでたころ、近くに松陰神社がありましたので、なんかゆかりがある場所みたいな感じだった。

And so ended our one day adventure exploring the town of Imabetsu.
