また去年の１０月に一旦戻って。週末、僕と妻は大体どっかにドライブに出かけた。もちょろん紅葉の時期なので、美しい風景を求めた。今回は八甲田山の別のルートを使い、田代平というところに行ってきました。
We stopped at an area to check out the statue of Funosuke Goto, one of the survivors of the Hakkoda Snow March where over 200 imperial soldiers froze to death during a winter training exercise.
後藤伍長の像に行ってみた。日本人ならだれでもこの歴史がわかると思うので、説明は致しません。

It seemed the appropriate thing to do.

We saw a sign for some dam and since my wife and I have started collecting dam cards (like baseball cards except they have a picture of the dam on one side and information about the dam on the other side), we headed in the direction of the dam. However, when we came to the end of the paved road, we decided not to continue. On our way to the damn, we passed the interesting looking wooden builidng that was also a coffee shop. I suggested that maybe we should take a closer look and if it's open, maybe have coffee there. The place was advertising that they serve Tampopo coffee, coffee made from dandelions!
ドライブの途中でダム行きのサインを見て、そのダムの場所を目指しました。私たちは二年前からダムのトレカも集まってるので、ダムに興味を持つことになった。でも道が砂利道に変わり、ダムに行くことを断念、作戦変更。行く途中に気になる木材の建物を見た。コーヒーショップと書いてあったので、妻にその店は営業してるかどうかを行ってみよう。開いてるなら、そこでコーヒーでも飲もうかっと。普通のコーヒーではなく、この店が提供してるのはたんぽぽコーヒー。

On the right is a room reserved for customers. Inside there are many things on display and a lot of handmade items are for sell as well.
右側の建物はお客様用。中にいろんな展示品やお土産もある。
The name of the coffee shop is [Tanpopo]. This word translates to dandelion.
店の名前は「たんぽぽ」。

The shop owner told us there is hidden grove that we should check out. He said there is a footbath there as well. As it was such a nice day, of course we had to go exploring.
店主がちょっと歩くべ、秘境の場所があると教えてくれた。もちろん探検するしかない。

After enjoying ourselves in the hidden grove, we decided to continue our drive and was headed to the Tashiro Plateau. But I will talk about that in the next post.
