母の青森紀行のネタが書き終わりましたので、私たちの２０１８年アメリカ旅行の話に戻りたいと思います。
First things first. Shopping with Mom as she takes us to Nordstrom Rack.
では、最初はやっぱり買い物に出かけますね。
It's nice to see that some things and places don't change, even if that place is an adult book and goods shop called "Elmo's".
何年経っても、変わらない場所も存在するんだね。こういうアダルトショップでも。
But before shopping, we decided to have lunch.
買い物する前にランチ。
We went to "Sushi Land"! This would be my first time going to a sushi shop in the U.S.
「寿司ランド」に行きました。僕にとって初めてのアメリカの開店寿司屋だ。
This sushi shop has a few non-sushi items on their menu as well.
この寿司屋は寿司以外のメニューもある。

I always start my sushi dining with maguro.

Americans seem to love spicy tuna so I had to try one of those as well.
アメリカ人はなぜかスパイシーツナが好きなので、それも食べてみた。
I think this was their California roll. Looks a bit strange to this long time resident of Japan.
これが店のカリフォーニアロールだったかな。長年日本在住の俺にとって、凄い不思議に見えた。

As you can see, the workers here are Japanese. My mother and I spoke in Japanese with them.
動画から分かるかも知りませんが、ここで寿司を握ってる人たちは日本人でした。僕と母は彼らを日本語で話をしてた。
So, I usually start with maguro...and end with maguro as well.
僕はマグロから始まりで、自分の〆もマグロです。
After shopping, my sister said we had to go and try this place called 85℃ Bakery Cafe. We ordered some stuff to go and would enjoy it at home.
買い物終わったら妹がこの８５°Cベーカリーカフェを行くべくと言った。持ち帰りでデザートを買った。家でゆっくり食べる。
When in the U.S., I always look for a nice bottle of root beer. Most of my Japanese friends thinks it tastes awful.
アメリカに行くとやっぱり自分はルートビールを飲む。日本人の友達はほぼ全員が不味いと言う。美味しいのにな！

My mother bought me this pair of Adidas and Nike sunglasses as an early birthday present.
母が僕の誕生日のために買ってくれたアディダスのスニーカーとナイキのサングラス。
Every month, my sister and friends hold what they call the "Sunday Diners". One person picks a place and everybody gathers there to have dinner. My sister calls it "having dinner with my other brothers". This month, my friends knew I would be in town and let me choose the restaurant. My sister had been telling me about this new El Salvadoran restaurant that opened in town and I'm always interested in trying new ethnic dishes, so my choice was a place called [El Pulgarcito]. It was a pupuseria. A restaurant that specializes in pupusas. What is a pupusa? According to Wikipedia, it is "a thick flatbread from El Salvador made with cornmeal or rice flour, similar to the Venezuelan and Columbian arepa. It is usually stuffed with one or more ingredients. These may include cheese (such as quesillo or cheese with loroco buds), chicharrone, squash, or refried beans.)
アメリカで僕の友達が毎月食事会を開催してる。”サンデイ・ダイナーズ”と名付けられてる。毎月一人が街のどっかの飲食店を選び、決めた日曜日にその店に集まって、食事をする。妹はいつも”私のアザー・ブラザーズ”の食事会とも言ってます。今月僕が里帰りするのを知り、街のレストランを選ぶ権利を僕に与えてくれた。以前妹と話したら、うちの実家に最近流行ってるのが中米アメリカ、エルサルバドルの料理店。ププサという食べ物がエルサルバドルを代表する料理。僕がそれを気になって、ププサ専門店の「エル・プルガルシート」に決定。ププサってなに？ププサはエルサルバドルの郷土料理の一つ。トウモロコシ粉で作った生地の中に、豆やチーズ、豚肉等を入れ、平たく丸い形に焼いたもの。

And I definitely had to try some pupusas!
そしてエルサルバドルを代表するププサを食べないっとね。

モルカヘーテという食べ物だった！モルカヘーテは中・南米で使うすり鉢とすりこぎです。ステーキ、エビ、チーズ、チョリソ、アボカド、オニオンと柔らかいサボテンをモルカヘーテに乗せたもの。ま、石焼鍋みたいなもんだ。
