Today's first stop was a place my wife wanted to check out. The headquarters of Seattle's famous brand name coffee - Starbucks. I'm not a coffee drinker but Starbucks does have frappacinos too!
今日の最初の目的地は妻のリクエスト。妻がシアトル発祥の有名ブランドのコーヒーの本社に行きたがった。はい、目指したのはスターバックスの本社。
Unlike the first coffee shop at Pike's Place Market, this building is huge!
パイク・プレイス・マーケットにある一号店と比べてラ、このビルは超デッカイ！
There were a lot of food trucks in front of the building, although there is also a shop in the building itself.
建物の中にスターバックスのお洒落な店もあるのに、ビルの外側に移動式販売車もいろいろありました。

I may not drink coffee, but my wife does. I don't know how big a fan she is of Starbucks because we hardly ever go there in Aomori.

The shop at the main office isn't a regular Starbucks, it's a Starbucks Reserve. A more upscale coffee shop than there regular outlets.
本社にあるスターバックスは普通のスターバックスではない。もっとお洒落で高級感のスターバックス・リザーブという名前です。

スターバックスにあるスターバックス・リザーブは本当に広い。
So I made an exception today. I said I don't drink coffee. It's not because I can't, it's just that I choose not to. I'm not a big fan of the taste, although I do like the aroma.
今日は特別にコーヒーを飲みました。自分はコーヒーを飲まないと言いましたよね。飲めないではにく飲まない。僕はコーヒーの香りは好きですが、味はそんなに好きではない。

So, now that marijuana has been legalized in the state of Washington, my wife and I were curious about checking out a marijuana shop.
さて、マリフアナはワシントン州で違法ではないので、僕と妻がマリフアナショップに行ってみたいと言ったので、タイローンがそのリクエストに対応してくれた。
We went to a shop called [Ganja Goddess].
行った店の名前は「ガンジャ・ゴデス」。
Canna"Bus" Shuttle. Like the little play on words there.
カナ”バス”シャトルと書いてある。言葉の遊びが面白いね。
I asked the staff if I could take pictures inside the shop. They said no problem as long as other customers were not in the picture. OH, you have to be eighteen or older to go inside the shop. The staff checks your idea at the door just like they do at bars and taverns in the States.
店員に店内の写真を撮っても良いと聞いて、店員がほかのお客様が写ってなかれば、撮影可と言ってくれました。店内に入るのは１８歳以上の大人のみ。もちろん証明書をスタッフに見せてあげたにと、入店を拒否することも有り得る。アメリカの飲み屋と一緒。

Our second main destination was my request. Yesterday, we went to the Jimi Hendrix Memorial. Well, Seattle has one other famous celebrity grave - Bruce Lee! The grave of Bruce Lee and his son Brandon Lee are located at the Lakeview Cemetery in Seattle.
二箇所目のメインの目的地はまた僕の希望の場所。昨日はギターヒーローのジミヘンのお墓に参りました。シアトルはもう一人の超有名人のお墓がある。それはジークンドを考案した人物ブルース・リー。はい、ブルース・リーと息子のブランドン・リーはシアトルのレイクビュー・セメタリに眠ってます。

We are now in the Wallingford District of Seattle. There was a restaurant that I had been wanting to go to. We didn't get a chance to go the last time we were in town and I didn't want to miss out on this trip.
現在はシアトルのウォーリングフォード地区にいます。僕が行きたいレストランが近くにある。以前里帰りしたとき、時間がなくて、そのレストランに行けなかった。今回はどうしても行ってみたいと言ったので、今度こそ自分の願いが叶いました。
Here is the restaurant. It's called [Pam's Kitchen]. They serve authentic Trinidad and Caribbean cuisine.
この店。名前は「パムズ・キッチェン」。本格的のトリニダードとカリブ海料理を提供してる店。

The drink menu. What the heck is mauby bark juice? I had to try it.
ドリンクメニュー。モービー・バークジュイスっていったいなんだ？もちろん飲んでみるしかない。
Well, that was really strange. Mauby is a type of tree. So I'm drinking the bark of some kind of tree!
ううん、とっても不思議な味。モービーはカリブ諸島の飲み物。材料は砂糖と木の樹皮から作られたもの。

And now for the food. My first taste of Trinidad cuisine.
そしてトリナダード料理を初めてたべる。
This is the like the national dish of Trinidad and Tobago. It's called callaloo. It's a creamy spinach and okra soup with coconut milk.
これがトリナダードを代表する料理。現地では”カラルー”と言う。ほうれん草とオクラのクリームスープ。ココナツミルク使用。

We were still hungry so we then went to a ramen shop.

My sister or brother-in-law said there's this cool soda shop on Capitol Hill. A place called [Rocket Fizz]. So that was our next destination.
妹が義理の弟がキャピタルヒルに面白い店がある。どういう店かわからないが、早速その店を目指した。
It was a soda and candy shop. It looks very retro.
コーラとお菓子の専門店、「ロケット・フィズ」というショップでした。外見と店内も結構レトロな感じ。

Oh my goodness! Some of these sound really scary or awful! From left to right, there is a marshmallow soda, coffee soda, buffalo wing soda, ranch dressing soda, and a grass soda! No, I didn't buy or try any of these.
うわ～！この種類のソーダを飲むのはちょっと勇気が必要だね。左からマシュマロ味、コーヒー味、バファロ・ウィング（ピリ辛手羽先）味、ランチドレシング味と草味。いえ、僕は購入して飲む勇気はありませんでした。

ラベルも面白いよね。左のビンはプロレスのラウディ・ロディ・パイパー、バブルガム味、ニコール・ポリッツィ（通称スヌーキー）。なんかアメリカのセレブとプロレスの人みてい。俺はまったくしりません。これが限定ラベルらしい。右側にあるのは魔法使いオズのラベル。
More interesting soda labels. Check out the figures that are being used - Osama bin Laden, Muhammar al Gaddafi, Joseph Stalin, Kim Jong-il, and Fidel Castro. And look at the names of the sodas - "Seal Ya Later", "Cream My People", "Stalinade", "Nuclear Orange Bomb", and "Havana Banana"!!

A tire blew out on the car.
なんとタイヤがパンクしました。

The rest of us had nothing to do but wait so taking a few pictures from where we were.

Another nostalgic site for me - the Union 76 (oh, now it's just 76). I haven't owned a car in over twenty years so and I don't think there are any 76 stations in Japan.
また懐かしい光景。ユニオン７６ガソリンスタンド。あっ、今はユニオンの名前は使われてない、７６のみみたい。自分は２０年以降車を持ってないし、日本に７６のガソリンスタンドもありませんと思う。見たことない。
So, did I buy any soda pop at Rocket Fizz? Well, of course I did!
さ、俺はロケット・フィズで買い物しましたかって？もちろん！
I bought this series of KISS Kola. Okay, I know I said I don't like to put money into Gene's pocket but these were kind of cool so I broke down and bought them. I also brought the empty bottles with me back to Japan and have them displayed on my shelf that houses my CDs.
ロケット・フィズで僕がかったものはキッスソーダ。本当はジーン・シモンズの手に金を入れたくないが、ラベルにひかれてついかっちゃいました。アメリカで飲みましたが、カラ便は日本まで持ち帰った。今は自分の書斎のCD棚に飾っております。

In the evening we went out for dinner to a restaurant called [The Old Country Buffet]. As you can see, my wife is driving. I am sitting in the back seat with my mother.
夕飯は「オルド・カントリー・ブッフェ」というレストランに行った。妻が運転して、僕はお母さんの後ろの席に座ってた。

最後、僕はデザートのためにクッキーを取りに行った。
Back home, we spotted a visitor in our backyard.
うちに帰って、裏庭にお客様が見えた。
My wife also made a collage of our visitor from the other day or maybe it was earlier in the day.

And so ended a full day. Tomorrow we will be staying mostly in town. Who knows what adventures await us locally.
